About
Pink Short Press publishes fantastically readable, socially conscious and slightly offbeat books, and runs Wordshops to help anyone get better at using words. We are loudly independent and proudly South Australian, based on Kaurna Yerta.
We are also known as Margot Lloyd and Emily Hart, and together we have over two decades of experience working in stories, books and publishing. We pride ourselves on our editorial care, collaboration and quality. We value sustainability, generosity, transparency and inclusivity. We love building community, which is at the heart of our events and our Wordshopping newsletter. We don’t drink coffee and we laugh a lot.

Margot has wrangled commas and characters as an editor for over ten years. She’s collaborated with award-winning authors across fiction, non-fiction, poetry and children’s books at Griffith Review, University of Queensland Press, Text Publishing and Wakefield Press. She loves talking about publishing and editing wherever she is in the world, including on Creative Australia delegations to India and New York.

Emily has published and edited bestsellers by chefs, politicians and YouTubers. She was named the book industry’s Rising Star in 2022, and has worked at Hardie Grant Books, Wakefield Press, Dillons Bookshop, and XXVI. As well as bookselling, ghostwriting and art teaching, she also has experience (and a degree) in marketing and brand voice.
